Description of Club

The Garrick Club is instituted for the general patronage of drama; for the purpose of combining the use of a Club, on economic principles, with the advantages of a literary society; for bringing together supporters of drama; and for the formation of a theatrical library, with works on costume.

The Garrick Club is situated in the heart of London's West End and Theatre-land, in Old Covent Garden. The nearest underground station is Leicester Square and Covent Garden (Piccadilly/Northern lines).

Dining Facilities

Breakfast: served from 7 until 10 am Monday to Friday and from 8 until 11 am on Saturday and Sunday. Continental breakfasts are included in the room rates.

Luncheon: served from 12.45 until 2.30 pm in the Coffee Room, Irving Room and Milne Room. Ladies may be invited for luncheon in the Irving room.

Dinner: served from 6.45 until 9.00 pm in the Coffee Room and in the Irving Room from 9.30 pm until midnight for after-theatre suppers. Ladies may be invited to dine in any room on any night.

Cocktail Bar: a male-only bar, open from Monday until Friday from 12 noon until 2.30 pm and 5.30 pm until 9 pm.

Bedroom Facilities

There are ten en-suite bedrooms comprising five double, three single and two twin bedded rooms. All have air-conditioning and eight are non-smoking. There is no room service available but tea and coffee making facilities are in all rooms, as well as direct dial telephones and radio alarms. The bedrooms are available from midday and the check out time is 10.00am.

Club Closure

The Club is closed during Easter, Christmas, New Year and all Bank Holidays, as well as for three weeks in the summer, usually between August and September. Otherwise, the Club remains open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, although there is a reduced service on Saturdays and Sundays after breakfast. The Club is not open for lunch or dinner on either Saturday or Sunday.

Private Rooms

Members may reserve the Private Dining Room for a party of up to twelve guests and the Old Card Room for up to 16 guests seated and up to 25 for a cocktail party at both lunchtime and in the evening. The Milne Room, which seats up to 48 at round tables and holds 70 guests for a cocktail party, is only available in the evening.

The Garrick has a Card Room, Billiards Room, two Reading Rooms, Morning Room and Theatrical Library.

General Information

Reciprocity: members of reciprocal clubs are required to produce a card of introduction. Reciprocity is extended to bona fide visiting members only and limited to a maximum of one month. Reciprocal members wishing an extension of this period should make a written request to the Secretary of the Club. An extension will be granted upon a payment of a fee. As the Garrick is restricted to gentleman members only, lady members of reciprocal clubs are not permitted to use the Club in their own right, but are most welcome as guests, when accompanied by a male member of a reciprocal club or the Garrick.

Dress Code

Members and male guests are required to wear jackets and ties. Ladies may wear trousers but not jeans. This does not apply at weekends, as the Club in not fully open.

The Garrick accepts cash, Sterling cheques, traveller's cheques, MasterCard and Visa credit cards and Delta debit card.

Tipping

Tipping of individual staff is not permitted but donations can be made to the Staff Christmas Fund via the Secretary's Office.
