The Garrick Club

Collections

The Garrick Club holds a remarkable collection of art works representing the history of the theatre, much of which is displayed throughout the building. There are over 1000 paintings, drawings and sculptures, a fascinating selection of theatrical memorabilia, and thousands of prints.

The Club also has an important theatrical library which focusses on the history of British theatre. There are more than 10,000 books, manuscripts and ephemera, with special collections that are particularly strong for the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Most, but not all, of the collections are recorded in the online catalogue. Some material can be found only through card catalogues and other indexes held in the Library. Cataloguing, including the provision of images of art works and other items, is ongoing.
